Kira + David

Gosh. What to say about these two, and a day that couldn't have possibly felt more authentic. An incredible celebration of two people who decided to really do their wedding their way.

Holmes Mill in the Ribble Valley was the venue that set the backdrop for their day, a rustic, alternative beer hall and brewery, with an industrial feel and just perfect for this pair. Kira got ready with her bridesmaids at the venue, with Nala and Knot glamming the girls up. The morning soundtrack went from Stevie Nicks to Stormzy, really setting the tone for the rest of the day with two music lovers. Kira's dress, from Ava Rose Hamilton was an incredible ball gown, with a huge statement bow on the back - she looked unbelievable, and the bright, punchy bouquet from Olive Owl finished the look perfectly.

David and the lads arrived into the brewery to finish up getting ready, and did each others ties over a final rum before the ceremony. Louise from Kickass Gatherings was tasked with running the ceremony, which was easily one of the best, and most fitting I've witnessed. She told their love story, how they met and moved in together, and David's unwavering love for Liverpool football club. It was tears and laughter aplenty, and really made the ceremony a beautiful and hilarious event.

After the ceremony, it was into the gold bar + lounge, which David and Kira specifically said they loved because the bar reminded them of The Shining. Here, the guests relaxed and enjoyed drinks and canapes, as we took some group photos and couple portraits, using little pockets of light through the windows for some really moody and romantic portriats, and of course the iconic alleyway at Holmes Mill.

Speeches were by Kira's mum, David, the Best Man, and of course, the Bride. Each was poignant and moving, and joyous and funny in equal measure. It's so clear that Kira + David are so loved and appreciated for their kind, relaxed, laid back natures, often being likened to that 'cool, fun, aunty and uncle'. After the speeches, there was some commotion outside, and it transpired that Kira became the main event for the party goers of the Bowland beer hall, absolutely getting down and partying with the Dj outside, being cheered on by a crowd of what felt like hundreds of people? She was in her absolute element, and forced David to join for a second, who couldn't wait to get away. This was definitely a highlight of the day, and it's unexpected moments like these that really make weddings memorable.

Although the party had well and truly already started, The Deadbeats band got going for the evening, with their first dance being an Arctic Monkeys mash up, from Baby I'm Yours, into I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor - from then on the dancefloor was full, and I wouldn't have expected it any other way.

A shoutout to the wonderful Pat Holt on videography, who it's always a joy to work with, but just makes working together on a wedding day so easy. Booking a photography/videdography team that work well together, is not only vital to getting amazing wedding media, but means that your team bounce off each other, share ideas and actually enhance each others ways of working.

A day that start to finish, truly just felt like them. They'd incorporated all their favourite things, stayed true to their own personal style, and enjoyed the day that they both wanted to. It was amazing to be a part of, and the images are truly a testament to living in the moment on your wedding day, and crafting a day that feels true to you.
