Megan + Billy
These two teenage sweethearts got married in their local church, then onto iconic Ribble Valley wedding venue, Mitton Hall. Rain on a wedding day may sound like everyone's worst nightmare, but these two embraced the on off rainy day and still got the most beautiful, intimate portraits. With the first few images in the gallery shot on 35mm film, it was a joy to document this on both digital and analogue, and see couples embracing the 35mm film wedding photography.
The day started with Megan and her bridesmaids getting ready at her parents family home. It was lovely and sentimental way to start the day, with Megan's mum having prepared the house for her daughter and her friends. The bridesmaids wore sage green and light pink mismatched dresses, to coordinate with the spring, wildflower theme. Megan was helped into her dress by her mum and her sister, a very emotional moment, and her classic but chic voluminous wedding dress was perfect for her. After a sentimental first look with Dad, it was off to the church. Billy and the groomsmen welcomed the guests into the church, before Megan walked down the aisle, and Billy had more than a few moments of tears throughout the ceremony. The rain subsided enough for us to get a beautiful confetti moment, and Megan and Billy headed off in the classic wedding car to Mitton Hall.
A drive with more rain, but when we arrived at Mitton Hall, we managed to get all of the group photos outside! With British weather, if you can be patient and change timelines around, it rarely rains all day without any breaks at all, it's just knowing when to make the most of those short breaks! Speeches were by Billy, Megan's Dad, Billy's best man and Megan herself, and it's always lovely to hear from the Bride as well as the traditional speeches by the men. After dinner, the rain had set in for the evening, so we snuck up to the bridal suite at Mitton Hall to make use of the gorgeous sash windows, and the soft light pouring through, and some editorial direct flash portraits.
This was a gorgeous and heartfelt day, with Megan and Billy embracing every second and centering themselves and celebrating their relationship. A beautiful, sentimental day, for these two who met when they were just teens!
