Caroline and Ant

Caroline and Ant wed at the beautiful Laura Ashley hotel, The Belsfield, which overlooks Lake Windermere in the Lake District. They originally were meant to get married in August, but due to covid restrictions, postponed to December. They also had some back up dates this year, in case they wanted to postpone again, but ended up going for it in December! With no weddings allowed right now (January), I'm sure they're glad they did decide to go for it - as the December rules saw them being able to have 15 guests, and a reception as Cumbria was in Tier 2 at the time. This is the biggest we've seen weddings allowed to be since the start of the restrictions in March, so they definitely made a good choice!

Caroline and Ant originally had quite a large wedding planned, so the restrictions were obviously quite a blow. They wholeheartedly embraced the card they were dealt though, and have said to me so many times how they're so glad they did, they loved every second and that it was perfect! Their day really did feel so authentically them - there was so much laughter and joy, which really comes through in their images! So much emotion during the speeches, which with a smaller guest list of their absolute closest family and friends, was really intimate and special. And even a bit of a party at the end with the amazing musician they had booked - playing their favourite indie rock songs.

The Belsfield is a perfect Lakes wedding venue - it's got traditional features as well as contemporary, and the ceremony room light is beautiful! It sits right on Lake Windermere too, which is fab for those jetty portraits! Caroline got ready with her girls in the main bridal suite. They all had their hair and makeup done together, and chilled and had breakfast - just like any normal bridal prep, there were LOLs, drinks and dress button dramas. Ant got ready with his best man separately in the hotel, and always there were lots of nerves and secret flasks. Caroline's dress suited her perfectly - it was super swishy on the bottom (amazing for dancing) and lots of lace detail on the top, which matched her tiara for a bit of glam!

Caroline and Ant's ceremony was beautiful. The light streaming in from the big windows in front of them was perfect, and I can't recommend Cumbria registrars enough. I usually always recommend a celebrant wedding if you can have one - but this was really beautiful, and the registrar did a wonderful job of keeping the ceremony emotional and personal. Caroline and Ant laughed and smiled the whole way through, as did their guests, and everyone watching on zoom!

After the ceremony we did confetti shots, group portraits and then down to the jetty for couple portraits. In true Lake District fashion, what started off as a little bit of light drizzle turned into a total downpour.

Ant, and Caroline's sister both made beautiful speeches, before everyone head off into their reception room. They got to have their first dance together as a couple, as well as cut their NYC themed cake, and watch videos of their friends and family that couldn't be there to send their well wishes. The musician was incredible! and had everyone singing with a little bit of dancing too.

The amazing Weddings By Michael was the videographer for the day, I always recommend him as he is fab to work with and produces beautiful films - totally non intrusive. I loved shooting this wedding. Caroline and Ant, and all their guests, just had the best time celebrating with each other and enjoying each others company. It was a beautiful ceremony, and an even more joyous day - I don't think it could have gotten any better even if there were more people! It was totally them, and suited them down to the ground.
