Demi and Scott
Demi and Scott contacted me not long before their wedding. They explained how they originally were to get married in France, but due to covid had decided to stick in the UK, and scale back. They booked me for the 28th November, at the beautiful Hidden River Cabins, and a whole host of talented suppliers from a shoot I did there back in September. They wanted their wedding to be really stylish despite the small guest list, and had the most beautiful plans! Sadly, even a 15 people wedding wasn't safe from Covid restrictions in November, and when the new lockdown was announced, they rescheduled for December. After a very nervous few weeks, it finally happened, and none of us could believe it.
Hidden River Cabins in Carlisle is one of my favourite ever venues - the main wedding barn is HUGE, and those crittal windows are just a showstopper. The light is beautiful, which is a photographers dream, and the team are just amazing. Demi had her own army of incredible wedding suppliers, and tasked them to create an autumnal blush and burnt orange styled space. Sarah at Olive Owl recreated her amazing floral columns for the ceremony space, whilst Sarah at Stories Of Events styled the tables with loads of fabric and textures, floral bowls, LOTS of candles, gold crockery, adorned with Lucy Mcspirit's minimal menus the space looked beautiful. In the morning Demi and Scott both got ready in the house, they were together and chilled out most of the morning, and their families were also with them! They shared breakfast together, and everyone got ready together until Demi got into her dress. The incredible Keseme was on makeup for the girls and Daniella was on hair - they all looked SO beautiful, and most importantly these two kept everyone relaxed, laughing and on time. Demi and Scott opted to have a first look. This is where you see each other before the ceremony privately - I absolutely love these, and I think the images speak for themselves about how special they are, but they're just so intimate, and if you're feeling nervous about that aisle walk, seeing your partner before hand can really help ease that. First looks are also AMAZING for winter weddings, especially if you're having a later ceremony, as they allow you get some portraits in the natural light!
Aside from some tumultuous wedding planning, Demi and Scott have been through an awful lot together - their day, despite being small, was so emotional. They had a celebrant lead their wedding, to make it more bespoke and personal, and read their own vows. This wedding was mid December, and in Cumbria, so they managed to have a reception too! Instead of a traditional cake, they opted for mini cakes from the amazing Mama Cakes, to sit prettily on each table. They had speeches from Demi's step dad, Scott, and Scott's best man, and a video presentation from all their friends and family that couldn't be there. They laughed, they cried, they reminisced and enjoyed celebrating with each other - just like any normal wedding. The love in this room was just huge, and everyone enjoyed every second , you wouldn't have known about any virus. If you're looking for small wedding inspiration... this is definitely it.
