Selena + Haider
Black tie, an intimate affair, BIG party vibes and a beautiful golden hour, at Yorkshire wedding venue, Bawtry Hall.
After photographing Selena's sister's wedding back in 2019, it was a joy to hear from these two when they let me know they were finally (!) engaged, and wanted me to photograph their day. It's always special photographing multiple events for the same family, it brings another level of familiarity and significance to my approach and the images.
They decided to host a day that suited them both - small and intimate, with just 40 guests, at beautiful Bawtry Hall, close to Selena's family home. Not only did they opt for classic black tie, but added another element to that, and asked all their guests to wear black, for an ultimate stylish monochromatic theme.
Both Selena + Haider got ready at Selena's family home, Selena with her mum and two bridesmaids, and Haider with a few of the lads. If I can offer any practical advice for a Black Tie wedding, it would be to practice and nail doing your own bow ties! This caused carnage for the groomsmen, but thankfully Selena's mum was an expert. Selena wore a gorgeous, silk, minimal chic gown, with a low draped back, whilst Haider was in the classic black suit and bow tie.
Bawtry Hall was the perfect setting, grand and stylish, with plenty of gorgeous windows to let in loads of light. Their ceremony was emotional and personal, and they shared their own vows, along with readings from Selena's sisters. After the ceremony, they enjoyed the glorious sunshine in the stunning grounds of Bawtry Hall. After some family portraits, we went for a short walk to create some images of just the two of them. Speeches followed, by the father of the bride, the groom, the best man and the maid of honour! With the formalities over, the real party begin, and these two were definitely party people, with a packed dance floor all evening.
We were lucky enough to get some beautiful, soft, evening golden hour light, so took full advantage to finish the day with some final, romantic potraits with the best light.
An absolute banger of a day, with style and emotion in equal measures!
