Jess + Rich

A Summer's day in Ireland, at the incredible Lime Park. Although I'm based in Manchester, I love to travel, especially for weddings, and especially over to Ireland. My partner Rebecca is Irish, with her family living over there, and it's always a welcome trip to catch a flight over to Belfast. I love Ireland, not just because of Rebecca (she is great though), but the varied landscapes and natural beauty. Lime Park is a joy of a venue, it feels homely yet elegant at the same time, and was a beautifully relaxed backdrop for Jess + Rich's summer wedding. As well as digital, they opted to have their full day shot on 35mm black and white film, which really added a sense of nostalgia and storytelling to their final gallery.

They both got ready onsite, Jess in the main house, and Rich in one of the cottages with both of their dogs - more on those later. It was a really laid back morning, with the bridesmaids helping to arrange the outdoor ceremony space whilst Jess was in hair and makeup. Jess' dress was effortlessly stylish, from And for Love, and she wore it well with her white trainers. They had their ceremony outside, led by a humanist celebrant, which is actually legally binding in Northern Ireland, here's hoping England can take note and change our rules to allow these too, as they're so beautiful, personal and emotional. Jess + Rich's dogs were the ringbearers, and hung out at the front of the ceremony with them, which was super cute. Jess + Rich had loads of ideas when it came to their couple photos, which I always welcome, I love it when the couples session is a collaborative process, it means we can create images that really mean something to you. The kitchen in Lime Park was somewhere they really wanted to use, with the old stoneware features and huge windows, as was the the path between the buildings with the fairy lights. We went for a walk round the estate and chased the light, and worked with the quirky and original features of the venue, and even got lucky with some gorgeous golden hour.

The barn at Lime Park was where their reception was held, as well as out on the lawn. They had a Tayto crisp wall (if you know, you know), garden games, and an early cake cut to avoid the dogs snaffling the cake. The barn was beautifully rustic, with bud vases, gin bottles and wild and dried flowers, plus handmade house favours by Jess. Speeches were a non traditional format, done by Jess, Rich, both fathers, Rich's brother and best man, all of which were the perfect blend of jokes and sentimental anecdotes. From there the party really started, with rounds of baby Guinness and spinning round the dancefloor. This was one full of joy and true to them as a couple, a day perfectly balanced between partying, emotional touches and style in charming Northern Ireland.
