Ross + Michael
A queer elopement editorial, in the centre of Edinburgh. Moody wedding inspiration, with an effortlessly cool couple, and dark academia vibes.
With March brings the bi annual Thrive Conference by Photography Farm. Last year, I had the opportunity to be one of the speakers, and run my own editorial shoot sessions. It was such a transformative experience to be a part of, and I really feel truly grateful to Lisa Devlin for having me onboard. This year, initially I planned to attend the conference, but last minute we decided to surprise everyone with some shoot sessions, put together and run by Jo Greenfield and I.
When putting together an editorial shoot in a short time frame, it really gives you that tunnel vision to streamline your inspiration - I instantly got in touch with Ross and Michael, my couple from my shoot sessions last year. They live in Edinburgh, and last time we created absolute magic, so I knew if we could all get together again we could do even better. Thankfully, they were available, and not only did they model, but put together their own outfits - I asked them for 70's mafia style husbands, and they executed the brief perfectly. Edgy, fashionable, but still romantic and always moody was the vibe, around the streets of Edinburgh, and the portrait gallery, that I've been dying to work in. The dark backdrops and walls filled with intricate art - with huge windows and beautiful soft light, it's exactly the type of situation that I just LOVE to use as a setting for my intimate and romantic couple portraits. After the gallery, it was all about getting those iconic Edinburgh streets, and injecting this gorgeous couples personality into the images.
Edinburgh is a gorgeous city, with so many opportunities for beautiful photographs on your wedding day. From the architecture, to the atmosphere and the colours - I felt like my style was a perfect match for the edgier feel of the city, blending the style and the dark romance together for modern gothic fairy tale with two beautiful grooms.
