Luci + Martha

The art of creating narrative. A creative couples session, with real couple Luci + Martha, focussing around creating an elopement story, with a cinematic, natural, and raw approach.

The story starts in the Workshop and Loft events space in Mirfield, primarily a florist's workshop, but it also hosts intimate weddings in its cosy, quirky, two floor space. With aged, textured walls and furnishings, antique touches, and beautiful windows for that all important light - it made the perfect backdrop to work with the girls. Luci and Martha have an amazing connection, and I wanted to go through the paces of a real morning - them getting ready together, from finishing makeup, to getting dressed, writing vows, sharing a ceremony and some creative portraits, and that's what we did in the space. Starting with them touching up each others makeup on the window seat, they were perfectly backlit, and let them talk whilst shooting slowly. They then dressed in their gowns - Martha in a puff sleeved, crepe tulle beauty be Rue De Seine bridal, giving fairytale vibes, whilst Luci wore a silk satin wide legged jumpsuit by Moonchild Bridal, paired with a blazer jacket, and matador hat for that alternative edge. Both were styled by the expert mind, Beck at Jean Jackson Couture, who made the girls feel so comfortable and beautiful, and made sure the outfits complimented their personal styles, and fit them. Florals were by the incredibly talented Emma Cox, who concocted a winter bouquet with roses, chocolate cosmos, and foraged bracken. The light was amazing in the workshop, pouring in and enveloping the girls, and the tones of the walls were just delicious with the browns in the bouquet. Together the wrote vows, carefully placed in the most gratuitous light, and then read them in front of the fireplace, afterwards we used the light to curate some posed portraits of them both, before a little walk outside to finish the day. Beautiful, slow, cinematic and atmospheric creation, a dream day.
