Charlotte + Danny
Charlotte and Danny wed on what's felt like the first weekend of spring, WHERE has the sun been this year? At one of my favourite Lake District wedding venues, Eden Barn. Set in the mountains on the edge of Cumbria, Eden Barn is a perfectly elevated barn, still with that rustic charm, it's got the style and edge of a modern wedding venue, but with original architecture and twinkly fairy lights, as well being right in the countryside.
The day started with groom prep with Danny and the lads, and his beloved hand built truck, at yet another new accommodation for me in Ravenstonedale, with Charlotte and the girls getting ready at the bridal suite at Eden Barn. The girls had the ultimate glam team in the powerhouses that are Nala and Knot, with soft, glowing makeup, and Charlotte's hair in the perfect hollywood waves. Danny wore a dark blue tweed suit, with rust coloured woolen tie, which complemented the girls rust bridesmaids dresses perfectly. Charlotte's dress was from her local boutique, Scarlet Poppy, and was the most incredible, figure hugging, lace Enzoani gown, with detachable sleeves and straps, for two different looks.
In classic Lake District fashion, the day started as overcast and moody, so the barn was the perfect backdrop for their family and friends to watch them tie the knot. After the ceremony and confetti, the clouds had started to clear, and we started to get a little bit of sun, and some hope for the iconic golden hour photos that Charlotte envisioned for their day. Obviously, we had to get Danny's beloved WTF truck involved in the photos, with the bridesmaids and the groomsmen piling on, for some photos with personality and fun. For their couple portraits, we kept an eye on the light, and decided to save all their couple photos for later on. We ended up with the most glorious golden hour, and beautiful soft sunset, and Charlotte and Danny took every opportunity to create some beautiful photos with everyone's favourite type of light. The sunset was just after their first dance, and we ended the day together with some final couple portraits, which I think Danny found a lot easier after a good few drinks! It doesn't take hours to get your photos, but when we're working with unpredictable light, it's always amazing to work with a couple who see your vision and are happy to be pulled away from the action for 10 minutes to get that light.
Charlotte's lace sleeves came off for the first dance and evening celebrations, giving a second look to the dress, and the party really started! With Steven Mac DJ and Spencer on Sax as a surprise for the guests, to really get the dancefloor going, the perfect, high energy to end to a beautiful day.
