Deb + Luke
A stylish, editorial, autumnal dream of a wedding, at The East Yorkshire Barns in Flaxfleet. Deb + Luke enlisted some of my absolute favourite suppliers, to create a beautiful day with substance and style, where they celebrated with 80 of their closest family and friends.
To ensure they could have the supplier team they wanted, Deb and Luke got in touch with their favourite suppliers before they even booked their date. They coordinated and were flexible on their wedding date, so that when they found a date that worked for all their favourites, they then booked it in with the venue - this meant they had all their first choice suppliers. The day not only looked beautiful, but ran so smoothly and effortlessly, so they could just enjoy themselves and relax, and not have to stress on the day. Deb got ready with her bridesmaids and family at the cottage on site at the barns, beautiful light poured in as Saskia did the girls hair and makeup, and they all had plenty of time and space to enjoy the morning. Deb's incredible dress was custom designed by the talented Emma Beaumont, and they worked together to create a beautifully personal piece. Deb's florals were by my ever favourite - Emma Cox, with her bouquet being a pinky, beachy, rusty brown, autumnal dream. Luke and the boys wore rust coloured bowties with tweed suits, which finished the autumn fashions off perfectly.
The actual ceremony barn at Flaxfleet is thoughtfully designed, with lots of space at the front, and gorgeous natural light pouring in, an elevated barn space, which is a dream to shoot. Not only did they opt for show stopping floral columns, but also meadows along the aisle. Jen at My Pretties not only co-ordinated the day, but had styled the ceremony and reception spaces, with soft pinks, linens and gold touches. Everything came together perfectly, especially with the lit candles and soft drapes and fairylights in the venue. The stationery finishing touches, menus, place cards and signage, all in blush pink with some classic Yorkshire slang, were created by Love Paper co, with an all blush pink cake by Juniper Cakery. Top notch food (Thank you!) by Shoot The Bull catering was served before the speeches, which included braised beef, vegan beetroot wellington, croquettes and popcorn brownies - comforting food for an autumn day.
After dinner, we quickly snuck off for some golden hour portraits before the speeches began, and I cannot recommend doing this enough - catch the light when you can, it really is the best time of day, and is the most flattering, soft, gorgeous light to be photographed in. I love Deb + Luke's portraits in the late afternoon sun.
This was an amazing warm up for a busy autumn season, and definitely my favourite time of year. Softer light, cooler days, more chance of golden hour, and warm rusty tones in the styling, I think this collection of images will forever be a favourite of mine, and have a very special place in my heart.
