Debbie + Bex
5 months on since this day, and I can't believe I haven't shared this one yet. October is one of my favourite months for weddings - the colours are so beautiful and the light is always so soft, and I personally feel that if you're a golden hour lover, October always gives the best chance at some of that gorgeous golden light.
Debbie + Bex had a day that was totally unique and personal to them, and they both stayed true to themselves when planning a day that truly fit their relationship and personalities. They got ready together at a boutique hotel in the centre of York, they were together for most of the morning, with Rosie Roberts on makeup and Mitch Hislop on hair. They separated just to get dressed, as neither had seen the others outfit, so they got the best of both of feeling calm and relaxed together, but still having that wow moment when they first saw each other! Bex had a fully custom forest green suit from Carl Stuart tailoring. She looked absolutely amazing and the fit was perfect, which she accessorized with personal gold jewellery and autumnal bowtie. Debbie opted for a show stopping black dress. She said she always wears black and feels best in it, so it only felt right to go for a black dress. It was so beautiful and was heavily embroidered, and went perfect with her nordic braids hair, and moody bouquet from Walter and Blossom. Debbie looked equally as amazing, and they set off to the venue separately to have a private first look before they walked down the aisle.
They walked down the aisle and got married in the beautiful and historic room at The Hospitium in York, nestled in York's museum gardens. It was the perfect setting for a slightly gothic fairy tale wedding, and looked beautiful filled with their guests and moody florals. Their confetti was one of my favourites - paper discs in all the colours of the lesbian flag.
For portraits we of course made use of the amazing golden hour and the incredible musuem garden ruins at the Hospitium. Tying in again with that slightly gothic and alternative feel, we had plenty of time to create some romantic and intimate portraits of them both.
Into the evening Bex tore up the dancefloor as they thrashed to some heavy metal, whilst Debbie had a more chilled time in the breakout room they had upstairs for guests that wanted a more chill space away from the dancing and music. I loved that they both stayed true to their personalities, and their style, and crafted a day that was totally unique but also totally them. It was an absolute joy to photograph this, and I'm so happy to be sharing this here!
