Manchester Wedding on 35mm film
Yes, I photographed my own wedding. Well, some of it. Of course, we had our wonderful friend, Becy from Belle Art Photography actually photographing our wedding - she is brilliantly talented and her photos are unmatched. I trusted her implicitly, but I couldn't resist just taking a few of my own detail shots on 35mm. I didn't want the actual job of photographing my own wedding, or editing it either for that matter, but one little roll couldn't hurt!
This was our legal wedding and hen do, we're having a celebrant wedding in October so we had to get the legal ceremony out of the way before then, and we decided to make it a big gay celebration with all of our friends. We legally got married at Manchester Registry office, kept it a total secret, and surprised our friends in the evening who waited in Maya Manchester for us. It was absolutely hilarious, epic and camp, and this is a small selection of my 35mm morning images, and our disposables in the evening.
Manchester Wedding Photographer - The Alan
We got ready at The Alan hotel in Manchester, it was just down the road from both canal street (our reception venue for the evening) and the registry office, which is just outside of St Peter's square. The room had so much natural light and was just absolutely stunning, The Alan was easily one of the most beautiful hotels we've ever stayed in, and must be one of the best in Manchester. My bouquet was of course from my good friend Emma Cox Floristry, who had complete free reign with the bouquet design, and made this that looked like it came out of my dreams. It was dark and moody but fun and playful and I couldn't have chosen anything better myself. My friend Rodger made my dress, completely custom and from scratch, I still can't get over it, it was perfect, and the lace and pleated details have me in a total chokehold. We went to Gail's together that morning, as one of my lovely couples had gifted us a voucher, and we got matchas, and pastries for everyone getting ready with us that morning.
My shoes were from Kurt Geiger, and signature leopard print, my favourite colour. Becca's were silver Diesel shoes and are completely iconic. We both had fragrances from Maison Margiela, By the Fireplace for me and Jazz Club for her. My jewellery was all organic, baroque pearls from A.B Ellie, whilst Becca wore her personal jewellery, and we both had some little touches from Gigi and Olive. It was so magical photographing my own details on 35mm film, it felt really special to take some of my own photos whilst knowing that Becy also had it fully covered!

I love city weddings for the fast paced atmosphere, the movement and chaos and slow moments in between.

35mm Film Wedding Photographer
We had the most amazing morning, with Becy our photographer, Chloe our content creator, Luke who did our hair and Zahirah who did our makeup. It really was just the most stunning, relaxed morning spent with friends, with so much excitement and anticipation. After we got married, we took a couple of portraits of each other before our evening celebrations, and had some time to relax before the big party. We both also swapped our shoes - my leopard print numbers were rubbing my feet something chronic, so I switched into my rhinestone gucci slingbacks, that I was saving for October, and Becca into a pair of Nike trainers.
I'm so obsessed with these film scans, Come Through have recently added a service where they scan with the borders, and I love how these look. They were all photographed on my canon ae-1 program, with Kodak Gold film.
Canal Street Wedding
After our legal ceremony, we'd planned our joint hen do for the evening, at Maya on Canal Street. It was a complete secret and just a select few people knew it was actually our wedding day. We surprised our friends, and also had a vegan tiramisu tower, vegan cake, oysters, fries, olives and espresso martinis, as well as our friend and drag DJ Ikarly providing the music for the evening. It was so silly and so hilarious, and the disposable images are iconic!
