It's no secret that I love Manchester. I moved here 4 years ago and never looked back, and even now, some of my favourite days are spent exploring the city. All the better when I get to do just that with a couple on their wedding day - this was Belle + Ben's wedding at Manchester Registry office, with just 30 of their friends and family, and a reception in Picollino.
I jumped on the tram into town, naturally stopped for a matcha before meeting Belle at The Midland, where she'd stayed the night before and chosen to get ready with her two friends. It was such a chilled morning with the 3 girls and Belle's hair and makeup artist, nice and relaxed and laid back, just as she'd envisioned. From the Midland you could see out over St Peter's square and watch the crisp autumn day unfold. When you have a small wedding, your supplier team become a bigger part of the day and more personal than if you have a lot of people around you - I wanted to emulate the energy in the room and not change or control the feel of the morning, I kept everything really natural and let the morning unfold, helping where I could, but ultimately letting Belle and her girls be together, and present in the moment as they got Belle into her wedding dress.
Manchester Registry Office Wedding
It was a short walk from The Midland to the Registry office, and Belle and her two unofficial bridesmaids took a quick stroll past the town hall to her wedding ceremony - where Ben, their daughter Bella, and their guests awaited. Although they opted for the short ceremony, it was still absolutely beautiful and very emotional, with all their guests dressed in black for the ultimate chic and formal dress code. After their ceremony, we walked everyone over to behind the library, where we did confetti and some family photos. Belle had told me her ultimate vision for the day was some really beautiful portraits of her and Ben, so getting the family photos done well, and quickly was my main priority, to give Belle + Ben plenty of time to be together and get some gorgeous photos before their reception at Piccolino. When we finished the family photos, their guests headed over to Piccolino, and we took some time to walk around St Peter's square, the Art Gallery, and Deansgate to get some romantic, moody, intimate couple photos. SO many people offered their well wishes and congratulations when they saw Belle + Ben, you can always count on nothereners to be friendly, and Ben said it reminded him of when Carrie married big in Sex and the City, likening Manchester to New York - and that day, it really did feel like it.

I knew Belle and Ben wanted a very romantic, but editorial feel to their photos. The lovely thing about Manchester is that there's really a location for everyone, from the gritty Northern Quarter, to the fun colour of Canal Street, for these two it was a no brainer to stick around Spinningfields and use the beautiful architecture for their images, and get some really intimate portraits. We took the time to walk around the city, enjoy some time with them both, before we head back to Piccolino for their reception, where they greeted their guests and had a short first dance.
This was such a beautiful, relaxed day, with these two celebrating their love in a city they love. It was a joy to be a part of, and these images are some of my favourites.
